About the Saltmarsh Sparrow Research Initiative

We are a Citizen Science team of volunteers, ranging from 10 to 78 years of age.
Our project began serendipitously. While surveying all the breeding birds at Jacob's Point for the Rhode Island Bird Atlas 2.0 (RIBA2.0), we were amazed to find a Saltmarsh Sparrow with colored leg bands.
Who was she and where had she been banded? Learn more about how we solved the identity of this bird.
If you are interested in volunteering your time or contributing toward the fund to support student researchers, please contact us.
